MAMMOGRAPHY-----DREADFUL BUT INEVITABLE

Mammography is a process of using low-dose x-rays to examine the human breast. It is used to examine different tumors or abnormalities to detect the cancer tumors and reduce the mortality due to this disease.
Like all x-rays examinations the breast is examined to create the imagination and analyze any abnormal growth.
During the examination the breast is compressed by the mammography machine to even out the tissues, to increase the image quality and hold the breast in firm position to avoid the blurred images.
Mammography has always been a dreadful but inevitable experience for the woman. Often the women are called back for further investigations. This may be false alarm also. If necessary a woman shall be examined for the unusual appearance, a biopsy may be performed and the tissue shall be examined by the pathologist to decide the reason of such abnormal tissues.
But another disadvantage of mammography is the radiation risk. The younger woman may have higher risk of radiation risk then the older woman. Another reason is that tissue are denser in younger woman making it more difficult to detect the cancer tumors, and may give false alarms. Therefore woman under 40 years are not recommended for mammography. But for them self breast examination is necessary. The women who have breast implants must inform the radiologist so that an experienced radiologist can be arranged. It becomes more detect the abnormalities when the woman has breast implants.
Some common advises that radiologist give is to use comfortable dress to save the time, and not to use talcum powder, deodorant or lotion on the examination day.
