ULTRA MOBILES.

A Dutch company has squeezed a display the size of two business cards into a gadget no bigger than other mobile phones, by making a screen that folds up when not in use.
The 5 inch display of Polymer Vision’s “ Readius “ is the world’s first that folds out when the user wants to read news, blogs or email and folds back together so that the device can fit into a pocket.
Polymer Vision, spun out of Philips, whetted the appetite of gadget fans more than two years ago when it showed off a prototype.
Now the gadget is in production and will go head to head with Apple’s I phone and Amazon’s ebook reader Kindle when it hits stores mid-2008.
The customer gets the large display of e- reading, the super battery life of e-reading and the high end connectivity and the form factor and weight of a mobile phone.
This dream device, which the company planned to build within 5 years, was a mobile phone with an 8 inch color display that could show video.

NORDIC WALKING A CHANGE IN YOUR VACATION

NORDIC WALKING is becoming popular alternative to jogging.
This sport is similar to the training required for cross country skiing. but without snow or skis, but using special walking stick like poles.
Brisk walking with the poles is not only good for the legs but for your whole body.
The poles support part of your body weight and this takes pressure off the joints.
This is especially very popular for hikers and trekkers in the mountains, but people may enjoy in the wilds also.
Supported by the poles you should walk along briskly with slightly longer strides than in normal walking.
The body should be taunt and the posture slightly forward leaning.
The arms swing forward alternately; the poles hit the ground slightly behind the forward heel and pull through the full length of the stride.
Give yourself a good forward impetus with the poles and then open your hand fully.
The loops hold the pole in position for a moment and then you renew your grasp.

STRESS MANAGEMENT

When a material is subject to a load, the material gets stressed.
The induction of stress in the material is proportionate to the stress and as long as it is within the elastic limit, what is referred to as tolerable strength.
Students of engineering would be familiar with these concepts.
In mathematical terms strain=stress/elasticity.
Strain can be reduced either by reducing the adverse effects of the sources of stress and increasing the strength of the material, or both.
Every one of us is subject to stress.
How successful you are in coping with stress depends on how you prepare your system- body, mind, and soul, to meet with challenges in a way that it is within your tolerance threshold.
Understand stress and find ways to overcome it.
The sources of stress are at work, home and society.
Lifestyle plays an important role.
Temporary relief could be obtained by drinking alcohol or coffee, using tobacco, or eating favorite foods.
However, they might eventually add to the problem.
Stress could induce depression, withdrawal and anger.
Diseases like peptic ulcers, asthma, diabetes, cancer and coronary heart disease are also the outcome of stress.

TOOTH FOR AN EYE

An eye fro an eye and a tooth for a tooth, goes the Biblical expression.
But some doctors modified this slightly and used a tooth to give a blind man is eye back.
In a treatment that spanned five months, doctors restored sight in one Mr Ansari’s left eye using his own canine tooth, its root and surrounding bone.
The 50 year old, after tow years of being without vision in both eyes, could on Saturday recognize colours, shapes and count fingers at a distance of two feet.
The MOOKP which evolved 40 years ago in Italy depends on the patent’s canine tooth. It is used as a tissue to fuse a plastic cornea with the rest of the eye.
The contraption actually a silver of the tooth and the poly methyl metha acrylate (PMMA) cylinder reaches the retina, and optical vision is established.
A simple cornea transplant from the dead persons can fix their problem, but it does not work for all.
Some may be in the list of these unfortunates.
The message is simple for corneally blind persons.
There is a ray of light at the end of the tunnel.

ACNE – THE UNINVITED AND UNWANTED GUEST ON YOUR FACE.

Most people, particularly the young, of both sexes who have reached or going thru adolescence have those unwanted acne on their faces, sometimes scaring the face.
Some few people only luckily rarely or never seem to be touched by this problem where as for some it is a terrible invader.
For majority of teens this is that they have to deal with.
Acne is a something that nobody precisely knows the basic cause but the process can be determined.
Under our hair there are follicles, they produce oil called sebum which normally functions to prevent the skin from drying and skin infections on the face, which is most exposed part of the body.
But when sebum can’t make a way out because of hair follicles are blocked, they become a culture medium of bacteria.
The skin inflation is a sign of this phenomenon.
As pimples develop the skins becomes inflamed, and it stand so even after the pimples burst or heals, leaving a scar.
The remedies are various smoothing lotions available curing this infections. But one must again take care to see that these lotions do not have negative effects.
Turmeric power and lotion or paste with or without milk cream does have the benefits of smoothing effect but they cannot prevent new burst of acne.
In spite of science developing, preventing measures for acne have not been invented, not it can be clearly decided why this happen during age of puberty, or some people may face the most and some people of the same family may have negligible degree of acne problem. .

SIGNS OF PREGNANCY

The onset and degree and signs of pregnancy will vary from woman to woman. Many women experience them within the days of conceptions; others take a few weeks before pregnancy. And the lucky few feel no discomfort at all.
Some early pregnancy symptoms can be felt once implantations occur, 8 to 10 days from ovulation and will lessen after the first trimester.
Nausea and vomiting may come as early as a week into the pregnancy. Many women experience morning sickness even in the afternoon or evening, or even throughout the day.
The exact reason for this could not be still be located, but eating small meals or eating an apple or a glass of milk tends to lessen the nausea.
Breasts may be very tender, swollen and start to enlarge, the nipples start looking darkened in color.
Pregnancy causes the uterus to swell and it will start to enlarge for the growing fetus immediately. The growing uterus puts pressure on your bladder making you feel the need for frequent urination.
Light bleeding may occur around the same time you would have gotten your menstrual period. Do not be mistaken it for period.
When standing in one place the woman may feel dizzy or even faint. The growing uterus compresses major arteries in your legs which cause your blood pressure to drop.
Pregnancy hormones will also slow down bowel functions to give maximum absorption time of vitamins and nutrients.
Some problems of irritability and heartburn may also show up.
And of course if you think you might be pregnant you should see a good doctor.

KEY TO CANCER DRUG USE PINPOINTED

Scientists have discovered why a treatment for ovarian cancer only works in half of the patients who have it.
Pacitaxel shrinks ovarian tumors but Cambridge University researchers found that patients lacking a specific type of protein tend to be a immune.
Cancer Research, U K , who funded the survey along with the Medical Research Council, said it will help ensure drugs are given to those likely to benefit.
There are 7000 cases of ovarian cancer diagnosed in the U K each year.
Pacitaxel is part of a family of drugs called taxanes originally derived from yew trees.
The researchers examined ovarian cancer cells and data from 20 patients. They found those who did not respond to Pacitaxel had lower levels of a protein called TGFBI in their pre-treatment samples.
And further analysis revealed that cancer cell death rate was higher following treatment where levels of TGFBI were high.
