MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS----ATTACKS TO NERVOUS SYSTEM BY BODY’S OWN IMMUNE SYSTEM

Our nervous system has two factions, the spinal cord and the brain.
Immune system is a nature’s gifts that guard our whole body including the nervous system against virus and anything that body treats as foreign.
But what happens if the immune system of the body treats our nervous system as a foreign and attacks , this particular disease is known as Multiple Sclerosis or in short MS.
In short MS is a autoimmune disease.
Most people catch MS in their 20 to 40 years ages and is more common in women rather than men.
The signs are very common and sometimes confusing with other diseases, like extreme fatigue, changes in sensations, difficulties with coordination with actions and speech, constipation etc.
Unfortunately the cause factors for MS has still could not be concluded, though risk factors have been identified. It could be best concluded a result of two things, environmental and genetic factors.
MS is not hereditary though genetics may play some decisive role in determining the susceptibility of the MS.
MS is a very slow progressing disease and that majority of the persons affected by MS are not forced to use wheel chair.
MS may have different types of versions in different persons, and the acuteness may also differ, some attacks are discrete and so are progressing in very slow way.
MS is very difficult to diagnosis in the first stage, in fact, it can be diagnosed only when the person is examined and other possibilities are ruled out one by one.
Since the cause of MS is not certain, the cure is also difficult. In fact , there is not sure cure for MS.
But some measures like acupuncture, yoga, massage etc may reduce the severity of the attacks and prevent permanent disability from the disease.

A REAL GIFT – LESSONS FROM THE INNOCENT.

In every country, every religion festivals are celebrated with vigor and zeal, amid gathering of relatives. At the end of the festival or a day, a feast is arranged, and gifts are exchanged. The youngsters receive the toys from the elders and elders are also given the gifts or respects.
These days, the very central idea of gift has changed; the extravagant amount of money is spent for gifts. It is generally believed that more costly the gift is the more love and affection can be symbolized.
But a small event in my family changed my very philosophy of the life.
Here, in India, we celebrate Diwali with as fervor as much people in western countries celebrate Christmas.
As is the custom, I decided to take a visit to my mother who is 70 years old and who is staying with younger brother. (In India, parents stay with the sons, they are rarely left to stay alone.) I have purchased a rather costly purse for my mother which I even then doubted if shall be used.
After meeting my mother, I gave my mother the purse and joking told she can keep her money in it while shopping, which she replied she rarely goes.
When we were talking , my younger son who is 12 years, took something from his pocket and gave to his grand mother, and surprising grand mother was crying with tears of joy.
When inquired my younger son told me that he gave her a small bottle of Vaseline and told her that she can rinse her hands with it when there is too much cold and her hands get dried up.
It was really a very touchy situation.
It opened my eyes.
Are we all become too robot like?
The very essence of a festival is exchange of love and consideration, and today we have made it a exchange of merely gifts.
How many of us really give at least a few hours if not daily at least on some festivals to some charity institutions, or visit some general ward patients (who can not afford the higher bed charges.) or give a small box of sweets to boys in orphan house who probably taste it very rarely.
Really we must change our philosophy on gift giving and festival celebration.

ASTHMA – AN INTERUPTION IN YOUR LIFE

Every moment that we sleep or work, our lungs are working inhaling and exhaling. The tubes which carry air in and out are also working smoothly for the efficient working of the lungs.
However, sometimes it may happen that these tubes may not be able to function temporarily or frequently affecting the function of the lungs.
But every time, one can to be termed as asthma, since the tunes may have infected due to various reasons, like common cold or pollution in which case the tubes may return to normal function with or without medications.
Hence, we must watch out if the malfunctioning of these airways is a permanent feature i.e. asthma or a temporary feature.
There are some common sings of asthma.
While working, one shall feel coughing, wheezing, a continuous, coarse, whistling sound in the respiratory airways during breathing, tightness in the chest or shortness of the breath.
While sleeping, the symptoms are more apparent, coughing and heaviness in the chest does not allow one to sleep easily. These symptoms are more acute during cold season and early mornings.
Asthma can be termed as the inflammation or swelling of the airways so that the breathing in and out becomes difficult.
Inflammation of swelling is the common response of the body when injury or infection occur , but in asthma the case is that this inflammation or swelling is frequent and does not resolve on its own according to normal system of body. It must be medicated.
The whole line of medicines is designed to control the inflammation of the bronchial tubes.

YOUR EYES – YOUR WINDOWS TO THE OUTER WORLD

Whereas all the parts of the body are important for the smooth running, eyes have some special significance; they are our windows to the outer world.
As it is, with age, the correction system of the body weakens and replacements of cells are coming hard, this slows or impairs the smooth working of the system.
Sight is our most important sense of life of feeling the life, if you ask a person randomly what is most fear of losing is, he shall reply losing of vision rather than losing hearing or walking.
The same way, certain eyes diseases are typical of appearing with the advanced age of the person.
Loss of central vision which is result of age related muscular degeneration is one of them.
This process starts after 50 years of life, the reason being the hardening of arteries that nourishes the retina, depriving the retina of oxygen and nutrients which are necessary for the smooth functioning of eyes.
However, though the central vision may be lost completely or partially, the driving or reading becomes impossible or a difficult task, but the peripheral vision is not affected, that is the relief.
There are two types of muscular degeneration, one is wet muscular degeneration is the second is dry muscular degeneration. The wet condition is very few in number, only approx 10 %.
The wet muscular degeneration is the condition where new vessels are formed to supply blood to retina but since they are very delicate, they break easily and bleeding causes damage to other tissues. The loss of central vision is also sudden.
The dry muscular degeneration is most common, its impact is not severe and the loss is also gradual.
Although there is no proven medical therapy for dry muscular deneration, the wet type can be cured by laser technology, unfortunately the lost vision can not be gained but further loss can be prevented.
There are some common tips to avoid this problem, take multi – vitamins with antioxidants, quit smoking, exercise regularly, use dark glasses, use dark green vegetables in your diet and consult your doctors for any abnormal things which come to notice like straight lines like door way appear wavy or distorted .

NAILS—A SHOWCASE AND THERMOMETER OF HEALTH.AND FATE

Anatomy describes the nails as the horn like structure at the end of human or animals fingers or tows or claws.
In the fashion world, the nails are considered the signs of femininity, a sign of delicacy, they are grown long and shaped meticulously and colored with nail polish to make them the symbol of beauty.
Although long nails care and decoration is generally limited to females, some professions demand long nails from the artists, like guitar players who need long nails to pluck the strings more efficiently.
But, nails are gifted by nature for this purpose only; it is gifted so that health of the person can be judged at the first instance.
For example, biting nails is the signs of stress, anxiety, hunger or simply it can be a bad habit.
The pliability, the shape and texture, the colorization of the nail bed and the marking on the nails, they are all the reading of the health of the person.
For example, brittleness of nails is the sign of iron deficiency, thyroid problem or kidney malfunctioning.
Frequent splitting of nails is the sign of deficiency of folic acids, vitamin C and proteins.
If nails are curving down the nail beds , it is sign of heart , lung or liver diseases.
Flatness of the nails is the sign of vitamin B 12 deficiency.
Colorization of the nails beds also indicate different types of health conditions so also the markings on the nails readings are used to nail down the possible cause of trouble.
If fact, it is the practice of experienced medical specialists to examine the nails before they proceed to detailed examinations.
And some thing more, here in India, some palmists read the fate, the nature and the character of the person, by simply studying the nails.
Really, nails are the mirror of personality AND more importantly the health.

HOLIDAYS – A REFLECTION OF THE HISTORY AND FESTIVALS.

Well, all counties have some holidays for the people to come on the street and celebrate their no-work days.
But what holidays do the most is the directly reminding the history and the political climate of the country and of course how administration is looking at the religions of the country.
Take for example India, a secular country, here we have all people of all religions, the Hindus, Muslims, Christians, Buddhists, Jains, Sikhs, Parsis and even the Jews, with their sub- beliefs , the Brahmins, and other classes of Hindus, along with Roman Catholics and Protestants, and admittedly so many other classes in other religions , with their various places of worships , and meeting places and their in-fighting’s, and their demands to the administration for celebrating their days be declared as holidays.
In the British Raj there holidays giving more weight to Hindus and Christians and two holidays to celebrate the British Empire and king’s birth day.
After independence however the scene changed , there are some gazette holidays , means all state of the country shall declare that particular days as holidays, , and some holidays shall be state holidays, means the particular state shall have some liberty to please the subjects of that particular state.
India is particularly a fine blend of so many religions; hence we have more than 35 festivals celebrated in various states of India as compared to America which a fine example of people of so many countries.
But admittedly , the holidays for the religion other than one which one professes, reminds the person , that there are others in his country and their contribution was and is as great as their owns.

PARASOMNIA – A SERIOUS SLEEP DISORDER

Parasomnia is a serious sleep disorder in sleep stages no III and IV when the person’s physiological system is activated during awake- sleep transition or during sleep.
Sleep walking, sleep eating, teeth grinding and scramming with terror, are all signs of parasomnia.
Unlike normal when brain works as the reception center and monitors the physical activities , in parasomnia body works without being monitored, and hence the risk is increased.
Major causes of parasomnia are of course stress and depression. But where as adults have lesser reported cases it is common in children.
Many parasomnia patients have serious risks of injuring themselves, for example, in sleep walking he may try to climb down the staircase and fall.
The actions of parasomnia patients are beyond their own consciousness or plainly they are not registered in the brain and hence the patients cannot recall what he did, unless someone awakes them or stops them.
Parasomnia patients acts with eyes open but the registration of the vision is absent and when questioned may reply slowly and with irrational replies.
Parasomnia must not be confused with psychosis; in psychosis the patient has lost the contact with real world permanently.
The simple way is to arouse the patient and let him sleep again. There are of course medicines targeting to cure the basic causes, stress and depression.

MENS’ BREAST CANCER – UNHEARD BUT TRUE

The first impression in the minds of people about breast cancer is that it is typical of woman only, but men also may become victims.
The case is evident, of total breast caner victims hardly 1% have men as their victims. And since it is so rare there is hardly any a research material or awareness in the minds of people, in fact if a man is diagnosed with breast cancer he shall be dumbfounded.
There exists hardly any satisfactory reason that doctors may give for the cause of cancer, almost in 60 %, the cause is termed as unknown.
But perhaps the family history can make one on alert. If you have alarming number of relatives as victims, either men or women, you should be on alert.
Again since women are routinely checked up by mammography, the men do not undergo such precautions, this is the reason that breast caner in men is diagnosed at a very late stage.
Men with unusually large breasts, due to obesity or steroid abused, should be more on alert to see any changes that occur in the nipples.
The treatment for breast cancer for men and women is however the same, surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy.

ULTIMATE OF SEX ------ GETTING A CHILD

There have been various books and tools available for the people depicting various positions for sexual activity. The end product of the sex can be only joy and pregnancy. There has been lot of gossip, as to what is the best way of making the sex to reach the ultimate goal of getting the child.
Since the affair between the bedroom has remained rather a hushed affair, there are lot many gossips and myths about this thing.
The male organ is best designed by nature, in a barrel like shape to give the gravitational force to the sperm so that it can meet the egg passing thru the female organ. The man on the top and the woman on the down, this is what the best position of a sex can be if one wants the child.
But another thing, is which is still important, is a passion. Do not make sex a chore, make an art so that both of the partners enjoy. The more passionate the love, the nearer you shall be to your gain.
Also monitor the ovulation period of the woman, the repeated efforts, a passionate love and correct sex position is the staircase for making the child. Sexual positions are only secondary in importance.

WOMB ON HIRE -- A BOON OF SCIENCE.

Until now the couples anxiously waiting for the child had to depend on luck , the time consuming medical treatment for the correction of in-built system of the spouse who has deficiency or await for the waiting list of being awarded for a child to be adopted thru some social network or charity organizations.
But the science has brought some boon to these people.
But even then the people were not so happy, they wanted their own child.
If the problem is with the female partner who has such an infertility problem that she can not conceive in spite of her male partner being alright.
In such a case, the help of women who opt to be a surrogated mother is available.
Anand a town in Gujarat better known as the milk capital of India, is now a – days emerged as capital of different type of venture, capital of surrogated woman.
Wombs of these women are carrying children of infertile couples from US, UK, Taiwan and Europe. In fact renting the womb has become a cottage industry in this town.
Apparently the women who opt to be a surrogated woman are doing it for money, around some thing about Rs. 3,00,000 (. Rs 45= $1)
The couples that hire the womb of a woman also have to pay almost Rs. 2000 for the maintenance in addition to sufficient arrangement of medical treatment pre and post delivery.
Some couple that really appreciates the help of such a surrogated woman sends checks to the woman while celebrating the birthday of their child.
After all science is not all abuse, it is the way in which you use it
